Firstly, as I live in Conwy, may I say how pleased I am to discover this Cross Party Group? Secondly, can I add that I am delighted that it has chosen to devote a meeting to discuss violence against sex workers in Wales.

Sadly, geography will make it impossible for me to attend the July 7 meeting, but I know Tracey slightly over the web and I'm sure members will find the meeting highly informative and interesting.

The framing of the European Convention on Human Rights back in the 1940s has been a great blessing. The Convention, however, was a product of its age, and in the case of sex workers, it left their rights, to say the least, constrained.

Since the second half of the 19th Century, successive waves of laws at Westminster, generally ostensibly aimed at protecting women, have - in many people's opinion - left sex workers as a whole in far more dangerous situations than they need to be.

I wish you well in your deliberations on July 7.
